TRITON COMPETITIVE SWIM SOCIETY (TCSS)
The Triton Competitive Swim Society (TCSS) is a registered not-for-profit society that exists to administer the functions of the swim club. The club is run by an elected Board of Directors drawn from members of the club. These members are elected at the Annual General Meeting in the spring of each year; all positions are volunteer. The Board of Directors meet on a monthly basis or as required.
The by-laws of the club detail the rules, regulations and descriptions of officers in the club. The bylaws, and all info regarding TCSS can be found on the website under “TRITON (TCSS) BOARD” . You must be signed in to the website to view the minutes which you will find under “MEETING MINUTES”
The TCSS board members for the 2024/2025 swim season are:
COMMUNICATION
At TCSS, communication is very important to us. Please do not hesitate to contact one of your coaches or one of the board members with any questions, concerns, or comments. Members are encouraged to email Brendan, our Head Coach, to ask any questions about swimming and training. He is here to support our swimmers and families. Email is the preferred and professional means of communication, as this will allow for timely follow-ups. In person meetings with board members or coaches must be agreed to and arranged in advance.
The club will also convey all important information each month with a Triton Newsletter, which will be sent via email.
PROGRAMS
TRAINING SCHEDULES
Current training schedules can be found on the website under the “PROGRAMS” tab.
COMPETITIVE AND AGE GROUP PROGRAMS
Triton Swimming groups range from learn-to-swim to elite swimming athletes. Progression between the groups is determined by the coaching staff and is based upon increasing ability and time standard achievement. All swimmers must have some previous swimming experience before joining the program and be assessed by one of our coaches before registering.

The Top Age Group - Select program is three, 90 minute sessions/week. This program is offered in Beaumont. TAG-Select is billed monthly and runs from September 15, 2025 to June 29, 2026.

The Teen Fit program is great for swimmers who do not wish to compete in swim meets but enjoy working out and building skills. It can be used as an excellent cross training program with other sports. Swimmers in this group receive technical development in all four competitive strokes as well as starts and turns.
STEP-UP PROGRAM
The “Step-Up” training provides a one (1) month transition period for swimmers who are selected by the coaches as being potentially ready to move up to a higher-level training group.
-
During the time that a swimmer is in the Step-Up Program:
-
the swimmer will be permitted to train at the higher training level at the coach’s discretion.
-
Triton coaches will evaluate that swimmer to determine whether that swimmer is ready and qualified to permanently train in a higher training level.
-
There shall be no additional costs or fees to a Member whose swimmer participates in the Step-Up program. However, prior to a swimmer being entitled to participate in the Step-Up training, the Member associated with that swimmer must provide written or electronic confirmation to Triton Swimming that:
-
The Member is prepared to accept and pay any additional Registration Fees and prorated (based on the balance of the season) Training Fees. The Member also must agree to any changes in the schedule, fundraising and volunteer requirements if ultimately the swimmer permanently changes to a new training level
-
The swimmer is prepared to move up to a higher-level training group if determined to be ready and qualified.
-
Each swimmer shall be permitted to access only one Step-Up program level per swim season.
ATTENDANCE
All swimmers are encouraged to attend all of their assigned sessions when possible. If an athlete misses a session due to no fault of TCSS, no make-up sessions or refunds will be offered.
LEVEL ASSIGNMENT AND CHANGES
Level assignment is at the sole discretion of the coaches. Coaches reserve the right to change a swimmer's level during the course of a session.
REGISTRATION
All registrations are processed through our online system and are due in full at the time of registration. Monthly fees do not include the registration fee.
Triton Swim Club is governed by Swimming Canada and Swim Alberta. All members are required to complete their consent form and online registration with Swimming Canada before the start of the season. This ensures that the swimmer is properly insured and, if applicable, eligible to compete in meets. These links will be emailed to you prior to the start of the season.
FEE STRUCTURE
There are four (4) ways that members contribute to club finances:
-
registration fees
-
training fees
-
fundraising
-
volunteer commitments
Our current fee schedule can be found on the website under the “PROGRAMS” tab.
MONTHLY TRAINING FEES
All monthly training fees are billed on the first of the month and credit cards will be charged on the 10th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for each account. If you wish to pay by e-transfer, please make arrangements with the Treasurer. E-transfers must be sent by the end of the day on the 8th, otherwise the credit card on file will be charged. All credit card transactions will have a surcharge added to the balance.
MULTI-SWIMMER DISCOUNT
There is a multi-swimmer discount of 5% off each additional swimmer. Discount is applied to the lower level group(s). Multi-swimmer families are only required to complete the volunteer points of the highest level swimmer. Family is defined as siblings.
SWIM MEET FEES
The cost of a meet is dependent on whether it is local or travel, how many days, level of competition and much more. Meet Packages will be provided on our website in advance for each swim meet. These are provided by the host club of each swim meet and will outline the events offered as well as the fees associated with each race. There will be a 10% fee added to the total cost of each meet. If your swimmer is registered for a swim meet then the swimmer account will be charged for the meet prior to the event and will be added to your next invoice on the 1st of the month. Out of town meets will also have a meet surcharge of $25 applied to the account to cover coaching costs.
PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICY
BILLING, INVOICES, PAYMENT & RECEIPTS
Every month on the 1st, an invoice is created online and will be sent out by email. All charges in the system at that time will appear on your invoice. All charges incurred after the 1st will be sent on your next invoice. In order to view your bill, log into the website using your email address provided to you by Triton Admin. E-transfers must be paid by the 8th of the month, credit cards will be charged on the 10th of each month. There is a surcharge for each credit card transaction.
HOW TO SEND E-TRANSFER PAYMENTS
-
Access your usual e-transfer application from your bank (via PC, tablet or phone, etc.)
-
Use the following email address: [email protected] as the recipient (Triton Swimming Treasurer).
-
Enter the amount of the transaction in dollars
-
Enter the details for the transaction (ie: swimmer's name: monthly fees, swimmer's name: meet fees, etc.)
-
More details are better to ensure that Triton Administration can apply the payment to the correct account and swimmer
There are no refunds or rescheduling of training days for classes that are missed. Billing may be paused or fees may be adjusted to reflect time missed due to injury. If the injury is not obvious, a doctor’s note may be required.
WITHDRAWAL FROM PROGRAM
If an athlete chooses to withdraw from a program, notice must be given in writing to the Registrar at [email protected]. The notice must be given 30 days prior to leaving the program. Any fees collected prior to notice being given, or collected during the 30 day period, will not be refunded. All payments falling after the 30 day period will be canceled for swimmers in JT, JAG, TAG, Teen Fit, TAG-Select, AGP, AGP Select, and Performance. There may be additional fundraising and volunteer penalties applied where applicable.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
We recognize that some families apply for funding through agencies such as JumpStart and/or KidSport. Ideally all funding is received prior to the start of the swim session; however, we realize this is not always possible. As such, athletes that do not have their funding in place by the start of the season must provide a deposit equal to the registration fee before they enter the pool for their first swim. If full funding is not received within four weeks of the start of the session, the swimmer may not be allowed to continue in the program.
FUNDRAISING
Our club relies heavily on fundraising to help cover our yearly costs. It is important that ALL families participate. However, there is a buyout option which varies between groups. All buyouts are per swimmer.
Performance will have a volunteer buyout of $600.
AGP-Select will have a volunteer buyout of $600.
AGP will have a volunteer buyout of $550.
TAG-Select will have a volunteer buyout of $550.
TAG will have a volunteer buyout of $500.
JAG will have a volunteer buyout of $400.
Junior Triton and Teen Fit will have a volunteer buyout of $300.
All fundraising and volunteer responsibilities are PER SEASON (September-June, or October-May, depending on the swimmer’s level), and must be completed within the current swimming season. Failure to meet the requirements will result in a fee charged to the swimmer's account using the credit card on file with TeamUnify.
*If you withdraw from Triton Swim Club prior to February 7, 2026, you will be responsible for half of the total fundraising and volunteering commitments associated with your swim level. If you withdraw after this date, you will be responsible for the full fundraising and volunteering commitments. The charge for unfulfilled fundraising requirements will be charged to the credit card on file. Credit card transactions will have a 2.4% surcharge. Exceptions can be made on a case to case basis if the swimmer is forced to withdraw due to injury.
This is outlined in the Fundraising Appendix. Fundraising is planned and executed through the Triton Competitive Swim Society (TCSS) parent-run Board of Directors. All questions and concerns regarding fundraising should be directed to the Director of Fundraising at [email protected]
BOTTLE DRIVES
Bottle Drives are a huge source of revenue for our club. (Significantly more than any bingo that we've done) and we would REALLY appreciate it if families chose to participate in the Bottle Drives rather than opting for the $100 buyout. These are the types of fundraising activities that help keep our fees as low as possible. (Each bottle drive will be roughly 2.5 hrs)
Swimmers in TAG and above are required to complete THREE bottle drives. Any charges will be added to accounts after the final bottle drive of the season.
Swimmers in Junior Triton, JAG and Teen Fit are required to complete TWO bottle drives. Any charges will be added to accounts after the final bottle drive of the session.
*Parents are required to stay and help with bottle drives, and sign their swimmer(s) out at the end for full credit. (Walking with the kids, driving a vehicle for the bottles or helping at the Depot).
RAFFLE BOX
Raffle Box will run from November 1 st, 2025 until November 23th, 2025. Each swimmer in JAG and above will be required to sell $100 worth of tickets. As an alternative they can opt out and the club will charge $100 to the credit card on file as part of the fundraising buyout.
Draw Date will be November 23th, 2025 on the pool deck at the LRC during our Swim Series event.
Any charges will be added to accounts after the Swim Series Event.
There is no fundraising requirement for Junior Triton and Teen Fit swimmers for this event but participation is encouraged as this is one of our largest club fundraisers. Junior Triton and Teen Fit swimmers will receive 1 volunteer point if $100 is raised.
SWIM-A-THON (DATE TBD)
This will be a really fun event and we would love for all swimmers in all groups to participate. All swimmers will be required to have a minimum of $100 in donations, or as per the fundraising buyout, they can have their credit card on file charged $100. Any charges will be added to accounts the day after the Swim-a-thon.
There is no fundraising requirement for Junior Triton and Teen Fit swimmers for this event but participation is strongly encouraged as it's a great team building event as well as club fundraiser.
SPONSORSHIP
Sponsorship is another form of fundraising for the club. Sponsors are generally solicited for Club events such as the swim meets. Should you be interested in Sponsorship, please contact our President at [email protected]
VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT
Volunteering is an integral part of Triton Swim Club. The club employs ONE full time coach who manages the coaching of the swimmers, scheduling, meets and many of the other day-to-day aspects from the “on-deck” perspective. Tasks such as finances, registration, advertising, promotion and communication, to name a few, are done by volunteer board members; all of whom are parents. Without their dedication of time, skill and energy, our club could not operate. Many of these volunteer commitments are revenue generating. These are critical to the overall function of the club and help keep fees down. Volunteer commitments are mandatory for all swimmers. Duties required vary based on the group and are outlined in the Volunteer Commitment appendix.
We are fortunate that we do not require an extensive amount of parent volunteer time throughout the season. However, it is vitally important that we do have volunteers available to help our board members with certain tasks and events. Volunteer points are PER FAMILY and calculated by the highest placed swimmer.
Any unfulfilled volunteer point will be charged at $50/point to the credit card on file on the last day of the session for Junior Tritons, JAG and Teen Fit swimmers and the last day of the season for TAG and above.

These commitments need to be met before the end of the season for all groups.
EQUIPMENT
All swimmers are expected to show up to practice with goggles, fins and a kickboard. Higher level groups will have additional equipment requirements. Mesh bags (equipment bags) are recommended. It is also recommended that all equipment be labeled with the swimmer's name.
We have a team store set up at LY Sports www.lysports.com/triton-swim-club. Here you'll be able to find the specific recommendations for products from our coaches. As a bonus, if you enter the code TRITONAB2023 at checkout, you'll receive a 2% discount on your order. (You can receive this discount on any product from the website, even if it's not on the team store.) Please note that most adult sized goggles do not properly fit young children. We have provided recommendations for age appropriate goggles on the website.
If you prefer to shop locally, please refer to the Triton equipment list on the LY Sports website for accurate and age appropriate recommendations. Should you have more specific questions, please direct them to Brendan at [email protected].

MEET SCHEDULE
The 2025/2026 swim meet schedule will be posted on the website under the “PROGRAMS” tab once it is available and updated regularly.
SWIM MEET 101
The opportunity to participate in swim meets is available to all Triton swimmers registered in JAG and up. Meets are an exciting opportunity to monitor improvement for the swimmer and the coach. While beating a time is one of the most obvious and visible ways to see improvement, coaches focus on many other areas of improvement at meets.
Coaches determine the schedule of meets based on the goals of the group and club. Once a meet is posted, an email will be sent and sign up can be completed via the link in the email. Meet fees will then be charged to the swimmer account. Meet fees vary from meet to meet but are typically a “per individual event” charge. Meets have an accompanying “meet package” PDF file that contains the specific meet information. There are up to 17 individual events and 5 relays for men and women in a swim meet. Not every meet will offer every event due to time constraints. To see heat sheets, as well as final results at swim meets, consider purchasing the "Meet Mobile" app.
The meet season is broken into two parts; the short course season (25m pool), and the long course season (50m pool). The short course season runs from September - March. This is followed by the long course season, running around March - June.
Many meets have qualifying times, where a swimmer must meet a minimum standard to attend the meet. Coaches will be able to confirm whether or not your swimmer is qualified for these meets. The number of events a swimmer is able to compete in is often determined by the number of meet qualifying times they have achieved.

SWIM MEET FAQ’s
Q: How do I know if a meet is for my child?
A: The meets are posted on the “EVENTS” section of the website. Within the description we try to post whom the meet is geared for. We add details as we get them from the hosting club. If you are unsure if a specific meet is suited for your swimmer, please talk to your coach and they can let you know.
Q: How much do meets cost?
A: The cost of a meet is dependent on whether it is local or travel, how many days, level of competition and much more. The costs are uploaded to the event page once details are received (meet packages) from the hosting Swim Club. The swimmer account will be charged for the meet prior to the event. Out of town meets will also have a meet surcharge applied to the account to cover coaching costs.
Q: What time do I need to be at the meet?
A: Meet arrival times will be communicated by the coach in the event email.
Q: How long are meets?
A: Every meet is different. Approximate start and end time are posted to the event as we receive them.
Q: How do I sign my swimmer up to attend a meet?
A: At the beginning of every season, our coaching staff publishes a meet list. This season’s schedule is currently located under “PROGRAMS” -> “COMPETITIVE - MEET SCHEDULE”. Coaches will then do the actual individual entries on behalf of all signed-up swimmers using their expertise to determine the appropriate events for the swimmer.
